A special Maundy Thursday Tenebrae service for our church family, featuring anthems by the Sanctuary Choir, congregational hymns, and including the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, will take place on Thursday evening, April 17, at 7:00 pm. A Tenebrae service follows the medieval tradition of Christian worship in which the final hours of the Lord’s life are experienced by the worshipers through scripture, music, and symbolism. During “Tenebrae,” which means “darkness” or “shadows,” candles are traditionally extinguished one by one so that the participants will feel the impending void and grief of Christ’s death on the cross. Plan now to attend this special reverent Holy Week service.
