Upcoming Music Events

You are invited to participate in one or more of our Music Ministry opportunities.  Where can you and your family members best serve with your musical gifts?

Children’s Vocal Choirs

In Psalm 100:2 we are instructed to “Serve the Lord with gladness!  Come into His presence with singing!”  It is never too early to begin teaching our children how to serve the Lord, and participating in a youth choir is a wonderful opportunity for service.  The umbrella concept for all choirs is “To promote joy in singing to the praise and glory of God.”

Cherub Choir - PreK-Grade 2 - Amy Hall, director
Chapel Choir - Grades 3-6 - Lori Flowers, director
New Song - Grades 7-College – Elese Frazier, director

Rehearsals begin on September 4 and are from 5:15-5:45.  Please pre-register by contacting Peggy Bettcher at pbettcher@rivermont.org.

Graded Handbell Choirs

The sound of handbells brings a sense of joyfulness and excitement to our praise of God, and at other times evokes a sense of peace and serenity.  Those participating in handbell choirs will develop to a higher level their musical talents and skills while they experience the rewards of playing in these unique ensembles.  Except for Rivermont Chimes, it is preferable for members to have some music background, but no precious ringing experience is necessary.

Rehearsals on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:15 beginning September 4.

Rivermont Chimes – Grades 2-5 – Noah Caldwell, director

Praise Ringers – Grades 6-12 – Hadley Hall, director

Rehearsals on Wednesdays from 5:15-6:00 pm beginning September 4.

Carillon Handbells – Adults – Peggy Bettcher, director

Please contact Peggy Bettcher at pbettcher@rivermont.org for more information about our handbell choirs.

Sanctuary Choir

This choir, with a long tradition of excellence in choral music, is privileged to serve in music leadership during worship in the Sunday morning services.  The choir presents an anthem, and with the organ, assists in the leadership of the hymns.  In addition, the Sanctuary Choir annually presents two full evenings of inspirational choral literature.  This fall the choir will be presenting Handel’s MESSIAH.  It is preferred that those interested in serving have some previous choir or other vocal performance experience.  Membership is open to those who are college age and above.

Sanctuary Choir rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 pm and begin August 28.  Please contact Peggy Bettcher for more information.
