Faith that Stands The Test of Time

Pastor: Brett Eubank Series: Hebrews Topic: Better Scripture: Hebrews 10:32–39

Jesus is Better

There is a collective fascination with things that stand the test of time. One of the most beloved classics of literature is John Bunyan's, Pilgrim's Progress. Printed in 1678, it has remained in print to this day and is second all-time in Christian book sales behind the Bible. That's a book that has stood the test of time. What has enabled it to enjoy such staying power, especially in light of cultural changes and acceptabilities?

More than that, how does faith endure despite the inevitable sufferings and trials experienced in the Christian life? How does faith, that is of greater worth than gold, endure? This is the question the writer of Hebrews takes up in our text for this Sunday, which comes from Hebrews 10:32-39. His answer may surprise you. He calls us to remember our former sufferings and to remember our future rewards. As we do these two things, our faith wil endure to the end and we will experience our "better and more abiding possession", the Lord Jesus Christ.

As we look expectantly to that day in worship this Sunday, we'll sing the hymns: "Lo! He Comes with Clouds Descending," "When I Survey The Woundrous Cross" and "All the Way My Savior Leads Me." We'll also be blessed by our youth as our Praise Ringers and NewSong Choir will offer their musical gifts and we'll be encouraged by Lori Flowers as she brings a Moment for Mission on our ministry to foster families, Fostering Hope. I look forward to joining you for worship this Lord's Day
