The Christmas Dragon
Pastor: David Weber Series: Advent 2022 Scripture: Revelation 12:1–17
The Christmas Dragon
In all the Christmas nativities I have seen, I have never run across one that included this particular character. Of course, there is always Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus. Often you will have the shepherds and a few sheep. Larger scenes will include the three wisemen and even their camels. I have even seen boys with drums, ladies offering eggs, and multiple angels included. However, I have never seen one of the most central figures in the birth of Christ including the Red Dragon. Come this Christmas to see why we must begin to acknowledge his presence if we would fully appreciate the birth of Christ into this world. To come prepared for worship, take time this week to read and meditate upon Revelation 12:1-17, Genesis 3:15, Matthew 2:16, 1 Peter 5:8, and Westminster Confession of Faith 8.
As we gather this fourth Sunday of Advent, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” the Acclamation of Praise “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” and the Hymn of Response “Good Christian Men, Rejoice.” Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives so that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
