Connecting Mercifully with our Neighbors

As you’ve heard from Pastors Brett and Shane, we’ve started a new summer sermon series entitled "Missio Nexus: Where Life & Mission Connects." As a church, we want to be connected to God's mission where it is happening, so we’re going to look at the people and places where God would have us connect our lives with his mission.  

This Sunday, we will look at the familiar Parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37 and consider “Connecting Mercifully with our Neighbors.” As you prepare for worship, please spend some time in prayer and ponder how Jesus responds to two profound questions that an expert in the Old Testament asks of our Savior:  “What shall I do to inherit  eternal life?” “And who is my neighbor?” As you think about the passage,  discover the ways that God’s grace and His mercy propel our Gospel compassion to our neighbors around us.   May the God of grace prepare our hearts to receive His word with thanksgiving and respond properly to it. 

I'm grateful to have one of our elders, Michael Hall, assisting me this Sunday as he will be leading us through the service.  Look forward to singing the hymns, “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty," “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us," and “I Will Sing of My Redeemer.”  During the 11:00 service, we’ll also commission the El Salvador Mission Team as they prepare to leave on Monday for El Salvador to work with Sports Outreach in the impoverished communities around Nuevo Cuscatlan.
