I Want You!

Series: A Song For Every Season: A Study in the Psalms Scripture: Psalm 110:1–7

Forty days following the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Bible teaches us that He ascended up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father (Luke 22:59; 24:51). The ascension of Christ means that His incarnation continues. Jesus Christ is currently in heaven ruling and interceding on behalf of His Church. This past Thursday was the day of ascension which we will remember this Sunday in our study of Psalm 110. This Psalm provides for us a prophecy and an oath that the Lord Jesus Christ would ascend to rule all of the world from the place of universal authority, the right hand of God. It also teaches us that we must freely follow the Lord in faith because He is seated upon the throne of eternal power. To be prepared for the sermon take time this week to read and to meditate upon Psalm 110, Genesis 14:1-24, Deuteronomy 20:1-9, Matthew 22:41-46, Acts 2:32-36, Hebrews 5:5-10; 6:19-7:28, and Westminster Shorter Catechism #’s 25, 26.

As we gather to worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit this Lord’s day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Rejoice the Lord is King, the Acclamation of Praise “Praise My Soul the King of Heaven” and the Hymn of Response “Jesus Shall Reign.” Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
