Preparing for the Lord's Day
Jesus is Better
What’s the plan? As the angels witnessed the disobedience of Adam and Eve and sin entering the world this had to be a question. How is God going to respond? Is this the end of those created in God’s image or would there be a way to redeem man? Thankfully, God had a plan that involved saving people by faith, justifying people through faith, and giving people meaning and purpose. We see the plan of God in the very beginning through an offering that Abel offered to God. Abel’s faith ultimately pointed to Jesus and God’s plan of salvation. The plan has not changed and God is still saving people for His own until the day of Christ’s return.
To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and to meditate upon Hebrews 11:4, Genesis 3:21-24 and 4:1-7, Exodus 25:22 and 26:1, Mark 8:36-37, and 1 Peter 1:10-12
As we gather to worship our loving Father this Lord’s Day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Amazing Grace”, the Acclamation of Praise “Nothing but the Blood”, and the Hymn of Response “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.” Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
