Preparing for the Lord's Day

In our sermon series on Colossians, the last few weeks we have learned what it means to take off the old self and put on the new self. Through our union with Christ, we have been changed and have hope in this life and hope for the life to come. Yet, sometimes we struggle to convey the hope that we have and are not sure how to share the good news of the gospel. As we conclude our study of Colossians, Paul gives practical tips in Colossians 4:2-18 on how to declare the mystery of Christ to an unbelieving world. We will see that the declaration of the gospel involves our prayers, actions, and words. To be prepared for the sermon read Colossians 4:2-18, John 17:22-23, and Matthew 5:13-16.

As we gather to worship the Maker and Creator of all things, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Come, Christians, Join to Sing, the Acclamation of Praise “Nothing but the Blood, and the Hymn of Response “May the Mind of Christ My Savior.  Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
