Preparing for the Lord's Day
Jesus Is Better
What will be the story of your life? There are things in life that we are known for and things that define us. Some of those things are more pleasant than others and some of the things can bring joy and others sorrow. The author of Hebrews challenges us to think about what the story of our lives will be. Will we believe in or refuse Jesus? Will we seek the kingdom of God or will we seek the kingdom of this world? Will we be grateful or forgetful for what God has done in Christ? The world offers and promises much, but in the end, pursuing the things of this world is like chasing the clouds. By the grace of God, may we seek Christ and His kingdom and live in grateful obedience for what He has done for us.
To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and to meditate upon Hebrews 12:25-29, Exodus 19:18, Matthew 13:41-42, Matthew 24:35, Luke 17:11-19, John 14:6, and Hebrews 1:1-2.
As we gather to worship our loving Father this Lord’s Day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “O Worship the King”, the Acclamation of Praise “Before the Throne of God”, and the Hymn of Response “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise.” Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
