Preparing For The Lord's Day

Preparing for the Lord's Day

“Don’t leave home without it!” In 1975 American Express launched an advertising campaign to market their credit card and traveler’s checks an essential for everyday life, as well as, for travel. If you don’t want to get stuck, make sure you have your American Express card. If you want to get home safely, don’t leave home without it. We have called our study of the book of Numbers the Journey Home. Yet like every traveler, there is anxiety concerning how to get home. What is the power to make the journey successfully? In Numbers 11, what we will see this week is that the Spirit of the Lord is the power to bring His people home. To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and meditate upon Numbers 11:16-35, Isaiah 63:10-14, John 3:1-15, Acts 1:8 and Westminster Confession of Faith 17.

As we gather to worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit this Lord’s day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Praise the Lord: Ye Heavens Adore Him”, the Acclamation of Praise “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us” and the Hymn of Response “Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder.”  Let us come to worship this Sundayprepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!

If you’re going to be out of town this Sunday, let me encourage you to listen to the sermon online (usually posted by Monday afternoon) or you can download the REPC podcast, which will be delivered to your mobile device.
