Preparing For The Lord's Day

We have all experienced entropy. Order naturally devolves into disorder. It happens all around us every day. Rooms don’t stay clean. Gardens don’t stay maintained. Laundry never comes out of the dryer folded. When we leave things to themselves they quickly fall into chaos. In Chapters 1-4 of Numbers, the Lord has taken great pains to ensure that the people of Israel are ordered properly for their journey to the land of Canaan. However, He knows that the chaos of sin will quickly enter into the order He has established among His people. This week, we will continue our study of Numbers picking up in chapter 5. Here we will find that the Lord has established not only the initial order of Israel, but also laws that will correct the chaos introduced by sin. To come prepared for the sermon take time this week to read and to meditate upon Numbers 5, Luke 8:43-48, 1 John 2:2, and Westminster Confession of Faith 6.3-6.

As we gather to worship our loving Father this Lord’s day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”, the Acclamation of Praise “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us” and the Hymn of Response “Love Divine, All Love Excelling”.  Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
