Preparing For The Lord's Day

The opening chapters of the book of Numbers can seem like just that, a list of names and numbers. To the casual reader, there does not appear to be much encouragement or direction for our faith in Christ. Nevertheless, as we study these chapters, we will find that they clearly point us to the work of Christ on behalf of God’s people. We will continue our study of Numbers picking up in chapters 3 and 4. Here is recorded the census of the Levites, the redemption of Israel’s firstborn and the duties that each clan of Levi is to perform. To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and to meditate upon Numbers 3-4, Exodus 13:11-16, Colossians 1:13-15 and Westminster Confession of Faith 8.6

As we gather to worship our loving Father this Lord’s day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “All You That Fear Jehovah’s Name”, the Acclamation of Praise “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less” and the Hymn of Response “My Worth Is Not in What I Own”. Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!

If you’re going to be out of town on the Lord’s Day, let me encourage you to listen to the sermon online (usually posted by Monday afternoon) or you can download the REPC podcast, which will be delivered to your mobile device.
