Faith & Doctrine | Union with Christ
What does it mean to be “in Christ”? In this Faith and Doctrine class, we will use Sinclair Ferguson’s Union with Christ: The Blessings of Being in Himto examine the biblical doctrine of union with Christ and its implications for Christian identity, worship, and discipleship. Join us as we consider how every aspect of the Christian life flows from our relationship with the risen Lord. This class has all ages, and the average class size is 50-60 people. The teaching format is usually a lecture with a little discussion.

Emmaus | Romans
Our study of Romans will take a deliberate pace of over 30+ weeks. In his rich epistle to the Christian Church in Rome, the apostle Paul explains the essence of Christianity, connecting many truths and tenets of the faith, from Condemnation, Sin, to Righteousness, Faith, Grace, Justification, Salvation, Sanctification, and more. Using commentaries from John Stott, FF Bruce, Tim Keller, RC Sproul, and others, teachers seek to explain these complex concepts in simple terms, while allowing healthy time for class discussion, relying on the written word as the final authority. Class age ranges from early 20s to early 90s. Teacher-led discussion format with circular seating that allows for a lively and robust discussion period. The class usually has 15-25 participants and has occasional social functions.

The Bible Class | Gospel of John
Every miracle, teaching, and action of Jesus that his disciple John captures in his Gospel has one clear purpose: to prove that Jesus is the Word, the Messiah, and the Son of God. This class consists primarily of married couples 50-plus, and the average class is 15-20. The class format is mostly lecture with some discussion.

Barnabas | The Gospel of Matthew
The Gospel of Matthew is the first and certainly one of the most profound documents in the New Testament, for in it we find the most systematic account of the birth, life, teaching, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Matthew records Jesus as Messiah, Son of God, Son of Man, and supremely as God returning to Jerusalem as judge and redeemer. Now more than ever, we need to hear Matthew’s emphasis on, the unity of God’s revelation - old and new - his teaching on the life of discipleship and the meaning of the kingdom of heaven, as well as his insights into the people of the Messiah, the new heaven and new earth, and the universality of the Good News! This class includes people of all ages and averages around 50 attendees per week.

Renewal Class | Talk the Walk
EVANGELISM … There, we’ve said it… the E-word. Is the thought of sharing the gospel scary? Overwhelming? Foreign? Something for others? Our class will explore many aspects of this privilege and responsibility we all share. As we learn what the Bible has to say about it, we will all grow in our appreciation, skill, and unique calling to share THE GREATEST NEWS EVER! The class format each week is discussion-infused teaching.

Sojourners | Psalms of Ascent
The Sojourners class will study the Psalms of Ascent, Psalms 120-134, plus select Imprecatory Psalms, psalms that cry out to God for righteousness and justice to prevail. This class includes people of all ages and averages around 50 attendees per week. The class format is lecture with discussion.

College Hour
Join college-aged students and Campus Outreach staff for a time of connection, coffee, food, and facilitated discussion! This fall we’re exploring a series called “First Things.” What beliefs are truly essential to the Christian faith? How do you tell the difference between a first-order doctrine and a second-order one? And how do those priorities actually shape the way Rivermont worships and does ministry? Join us for connection, discussion, and a chance to dig into what matters most.

Young Professionals
What we believe (orthodoxy) shapes how we live (orthopraxy). This isn't just true biblically, it's true experientially. So what are the beliefs that make us Christian? What are the beliefs that make us a Presbyterian church? And most importantly, how do those beliefs shape our view of life...of marriage and singleness, of work and leisure, of stewardship and suffering? This Fall, the Rivermont Young Professionals will explore an introduction to Reformed Theology in a series called "Presbytopia". Each week, we'll let Scripture shape our beliefs through teaching and group discussion, so that our study will yield flourishing lives that please God as they are conformed to His Word. If you are a young single adult or married couple without kids, you're invited to join the more than 50 individuals who attend each week.

Homebuilders Class | Gospel of Mark
The Homebuilders Sunday School class will be studying the Gospel of Mark during the fall semester. This is the smallest and often most overlooked of the four gospels. Written in the early 60s AD, we now know it was the first gospel recorded, given to the early church during a time of great struggle and difficulty. Imagine the encouragement of hearing, for the first time, the recorded words of your Savior and the actual details of His ministry. Join us as we study these words and details and seek to rediscover that same encouragement. This class is primarily married couples aged late 20s to late 40s, with an average class size of 40-50 people. The class format is lecture with discussion, and members enjoy several social gatherings throughout the year.
