Acts
Due to the weather, this Sunday, February 1, we will worship together for one service only at 11:00 am.
There will not be an 8:30 am service, Sunday School, Communion, or Sunday Evening Prayer Service.
What is your “why”? In life, everything we do is driven by a reason. Athletes train for victory, entrepreneurs work for success, parents labor for the good of their children, and students study for achievement. Our “why” shapes how we act, how much effort we put in, and how we respond when things get hard. Without a clear why, motivation fades, decisions stall, and even good intentions wither away.
In Acts 17:16-34, we see the Apostle Paul in Athens, surrounded by idols, full of people worshiping created things rather than the Creator. What was his “why”? He was provoked—not by anger or ambition, but by love for the glory of God. His response was to preach boldly, not seeking approval or success, but to declare the one true God and call people away from falsehood. This Sunday, we’ll explore what it means to have God’s glory as our “why,” how that should shape our lives, and how it gives us courage to speak, act, and live faithfully, no matter the response. To prepare for the sermon, take time this week to read and meditate on Acts 17:16-34, 1 Corinthians 10:31, Philippians 1:20, Romans 1:18-23, and Isaiah 43:7.
