Acts
We continue our study of the Book of Acts as we learn about the spread of the gospel and the beginnings of the early church. In our passage, we come to Paul’s first missionary journey. How will God continue to expand His kingdom, and how will people come to know the Lord Jesus Christ? Here, we see how the gospel advances and who does what. We learn that Spirit sends, people share, and God saves. Yet, we must realize there will be opposition and not everyone will be willing to listen or receive Christ as Lord and Savior. Yet, we take heart knowing the Lord will save His people and embolden us by His Spirit in times of need.
To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and to meditate upon Acts 13:1-12, Matthew 9:35-38, Luke 10:1-2, Joshua 1:9, 2 Timothy 1:6-7, 1 Corinthians 3:6-7, and Revelation 7:9.
We also have the joy and privilege of welcoming new members to Rivermont this Sunday! So, as we gather to worship our gracious God this Lord’s Day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “How Firm a Foundation", the Acclamation of Praise “When I Survery the Wondrous Cross”, and the Hymn of Response “All Glory Be to Christ” Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
