When I was an accountant, part of the services our firm offered were attestation services. In the accounting world, attestation is vital for businesses to ensure that their financial records are accurate and reliable. Peter performs his own attestation of Jesus as the Messiah as he continues his Pentecost sermon.

We'll see that His attestation begins by looking at Israel's greatest hero, King David, to show prophetically, that the Messiah would not "be abandoned to Hades or experience corruption." Peter connected David's prophecy to the resurrection of the Messiah and he furthermore attests to the fact that Jesus, who was resurrected from the dead is that Messiah. Finally, he attests to Jesus as Messiah through the coming of the Holy Spirit. To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and meditate upon Acts 2:25-36, Psalm 16, Psalm 110:1, Psalm 132:11 and John 11:1-14. 

Coming together as the gathered church this Lord's Day, we will join our voices as we sing the hymns, "Lo! He Comes with Clouds Descending, Crown Him with Many Crowns, and In Christ Alone. May the Lord build our faith and trust in Jesus as both Lord and Christ (Messiah).
