Grace Transforms Us

Pastor: Shane Whelan Series: The God of Grace Scripture: Romans 12:1–12

We are saved and freed by God’s grace, now what? This upcoming Sunday we learn that God’s grace transforms us. As usual, it comes in a way that we would not expect. God in his gracious provision has given us the means of grace. The preaching of His Word, prayer, and the sacraments are examples of the means of grace. It is then through the work of the Holy Spirit and the grace of God that we are transformed into the image of Christ. We then live as living sacrifices by the mercies of God, knowing that Christ has already made us holy and acceptable.

To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and to meditate upon Romans 12:1-2, 1:18-27, 10:14-17, 11:34-36, 2 Corinthians 3:18, Matthew 17:1-8,  and 1 Thessalonians 5:14-18 and 4:3.

As we gather to worship our gracious God this Lord’s Day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven”, the Acclamation of Praise “Amazing Grace”, and the Hymn of Response “How Firm a Foundation”. Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
