Trusting Jesus Christ and His Provision in Relationships 

In preparing for corporate worship, praise God that the very God who has created us is also the God who sustains us through His mighty hand. We give Him thanks for the light and truth of His word, that by the power of the Holy Spirit, the Lord will guide and fill us in Christ for our good and the glory of his name.  

For the mini sermon series for June entitled “Trusting Christ and His Provision in Relationships” the common themes of Christ’s abiding presence, His indwelling power to know His love, and humble obedience to Jesus Christ in response to His profound grace and reign allow us to pursue Him and His kingdom purposes in relationship with focus and passion.   We’ve embraced “Christ and the Pursuit of His Peace” (Philippians 4:4-7), “Christ and His Abiding Presence” (John 15:1-5), and “Christ and His Indwelling Power” (Ephesians 3:14-21).  This Sunday, we’ll turn to Ephesians 2:19-22 and consider “Christ and His Redeemed People.”

To come prepared for worship, please remain in prayer for God to open the eyes of our hearts and minds. Please meditate upon Ephesians 2:19-22. As you meditate on Ephesians 2 for this Sunday,  please also ponder the blessings of the prayer of Jesus Christ and the gift of His people evident in John 17:20-26; Acts 2:42-47; Romans 15:1-7; 1 Peter 2:9-10, Hebrews 10:23-25, and 1 John 4:7-12. I encourage you to review Philippians 4:4-7, John 15:1-5, and Ephesians 3:14-21, and give to God for His provisions in Christ! 

Also, thank you for your prayers for 44^th General Assembly of our denomination, which has been this week (June 18-20), at Hope Church, Cordova, Tennessee.  The reports and prayers from our  Global Outreach missionaries have been profound, and the encouragement to prepare the next generation with the love of Christ has been insightful.   For the overture sent from our Presbytery to solidify the denomination’s position on our identity in Christ versus identity in any sexual orientation, our Rivermont team is grateful. What started as a difficult ascent on Tuesday, God blessed with order, unity,  and process by Wednesday afternoon. Praise God for His direction to honor Biblical truth. We embrace the vital Biblical blessing of our identity in Christ. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).  We stand in unity to maintain Biblical fidelity and purity in Jesus Christ.    

As we gather to worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit this Lord’s Day, we will join our hearts and voices in singing the Hymn of Praise “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty,” the Acclamation of Praise “Jesus! What a Friend for Sinners!” and the Hymn of Response “We are God’s People.”  Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
