Rivermont EPC is looking for a dependable, hardworking Properties and Building Assistant to help maintain and care for our church buildings and grounds. This role is essential to the daily operation of our facilities, supporting a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for worship, ministry, and community activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform minor repairs and improvements as assigned

• Identify and report areas in need of maintenance or repair

• Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC systems, fire extinguishers, alarm systems, and replace lightbulbs, filters, etc.

• Assist in stocking supply cabinets and support kitchen and cleaning services as needed

• Support church staff with day-to-day operational needs

• Set up rooms with tables and chairs for Sunday School classes and various events

• Be available for on-call maintenance or weather-related emergencies

Qualifications:

• Physically able to work full shifts and lift/move up to 20 lbs

• Strong work ethic with a commitment to doing the job right the first time

• Ability to work independently after training

• Good communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor

• Ability to relate well to church members, staff, and especially your direct supervisor

We’re collecting new and gently used soccer gear for kids in the Rivermont neighborhood and we need your help!

Cleats, shin guards, balls, uniforms, socks — if it’s soccer-related and in good condition, it can make a difference.

As we continue to welcome more people, we want to ensure our campus remains accessible and inviting, especially for our elderly members and first-time visitors.

Graciously, Randolph College allows us to use three of their parking lots: Maier Museum, the Upper Gym lot (accessed from Quinlan), and the Lower Gym Lot (accessed from Norfolk Avenue). 

How You Can Help:

We are encouraging those who are able-bodied and can comfortably walk up the hill to please park in these lower lots.

This adjustment will help keep the church parking lot available for:

• Elderly members
• Individuals with mobility challenges
• Visitors and first-time guests

This small act of service goes a long way in making someone feel welcome and cared for the moment they arrive.

During our recent pastor's retreat, we renewed our commitment to our Sunday afternoon hour-long prayer service that meets in the Chapel from 4pm. One specific action from that retreat is moving the start time for our prayer service to coincide with daylight savings time. So, when daylight savings time begins, the start time for our Sunday afternoon prayer service will be 5:00pm. Then when daylight savings time ends, the start time for our Sunday afternoon prayer service will be 4:00pm.

Starting today, July 13th, we will meet at 5pm in the chapel and will continue to do so until November 2nd, when we revert back to the 4pm time slot.

Join us for Officer Prayer at 7:00 pm. 

Confirmed members may review the Session minutes from our monthly and called meetings in the church office.
