6:30pm – 8:00pm

We have one more event before the end of the year that we believe will continue to impact the hearts and homes of our Rivermont neighbors. On Friday, December 2nd, we will be holding the Rivermont Neighborhood Christmas Tree Lighting from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. During the event, we'll enjoy live music from Josh and Jordan Sosin, who will also be leading everyone in singing  Christmas carols. Missy Phelps and her team have assembled fun activities for the kids like ornament-making and "reindeer" games. We'll have hot chocolate and coffee from our friends at Golf Park Coffee as well as cookies from Rookies. And we'll have a special appearance from the Grinch, who will take photos with the children. We've received permission from the city to block off Quinlan between Rivermont and Memphis Ave, so we'll have plenty of space that is safe and secure for you and our neighbors.

To pull this off, we could really use your help. Here's what we need help with:

  • PRAYER - As Pastor David reminded us, prayer is our first priority and we need God's help for every aspect of this event.
  • PROMOTION - We want to continue passing outdoor hangers in the neighborhood. When asked, many attendees at the Fall Festival and Easter Egg Hunt came because of the door hanger. Aside from it being effective for promotion, I think it's effective in getting us into our neighborhood so we can feel comfortable walking in and praying for our neighbors. We would like for you to pick up a pack of cards this Sunday (11/13) in the Cheatham Center and pass them out by next Monday (11/21).
  • PARTICIPATION- We need the following items for the event:
    - a plate of Christmas goodies (the kind you'd give to your neighbor)
    - Wrapping Paper (won't get this back)
    - One sheet of plywood (can get this back)
    - A fire pit (we need three and you can get it back)
    - A reindeer sleigh (we need several and you can get it back)
    - Used ornaments, tinsel and lights (you won't get this back)
  • SETUP - We need help with setting up the following:
    - Help set up and light the Christmas tree on November 26 in the morning.
    - Day of event help needed, including the welcome team, food team, set up and clean up team,
      game/activity team, prize team, etc.
