Children's Ministry

Enabling and supporting families in raising their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord

We welcome you and your family to the Children’s Ministries of Rivermont. Our children's programs are part of the Relational Discipleship ministry at Rivermont. It is our goal and purpose to partner with you in the spiritual growth and nurture of your children. We readily affirm and endorse the biblical mandate for parents to be the primary source of Christian education for their children. We are here to help and to complement your efforts in this area.

Children's Church is designed to help prepare children ages Pre-K through 1st grade for sanctuary worship. Children will begin by participating in the worship service with their parents. They will be dismissed during the passing of the peace. Their time includes prayer, singing, Bible teaching, and free play. In the spring, the class will begin to mirror the worship service, preparing the first graders to join their families in worship beginning in the fall.

Classes Run Year-Round

  • 8:30 am: Pre-K - 1st Grade meet in the Orange Room #115

  • 11:00 am: Pre-K - 1st Grade meet in the Orange Room #115

To provide the children with a safe and loving environment, we need 2 Adults & 1 Youth Helper during each class. Take advantage of this opportunity to get to know our young believers and help them develop the foundation in their faith. (All volunteers must have a background check before working with the children.) Please contact Liza Shields if you are interested.

Communion

Communion is one of the great gifts to the church as it offers a visible picture of the covenant relationship between God and his people.

We believe that the Lord's Supper (Communion) is reserved for those baptized members who have made a credible profession of faith in Christ.  If you have a child who desires to take communion, the first step is to download the Children's Communion Packet and work through it with him or her. Once you have completed the packet and feel your child is ready to move forward, please contact Janet Freshour, and she will schedule an appointment for you and your child to meet with one of our Pastors. During that meeting, the pastor will look to discern a profession of faith in Jesus as well as an understanding of communion.  Following their recommendation, the Session will formally admit your child to the Communion Table, so they may begin to take the Lord's Supper.

Vacation Bible School

Blast off for a deep exploration of the majesty of God! When we think of God’s magnificence, we often think of the wonders of creation, and rightly so! The stories of Genesis 1-9, however, admonish us that to stop there is to barely skim the edge of the universe of God’s greatness. As the Creation story opens, we are awe-struck by the power and creativity of God, who spoke, cultivated, and crafted all things visible and invisible by the power of His word. We are further invited to wonder at the special way he fashioned mankind to know Him and extend His gracious rule throughout the created world.
