Acts
We continue our study of the Book of Acts as we continue to learn about the spread of the gospel and the beginnings of the early church. I think we all would agree that we need reminders in life, especially of the life to come. We are prone to forget the promises that Scripture makes to us and the kingdom that is coming when Christ returns. In the gospels, we get a glimpse of what is to come through the life of Christ. The miracles He performed were reminders of the coming day when all the effects of sin will be gone. A day is coming when illnesses, disabilities, death, and sin will be no more. As we come to the end of Acts 9, Peter is reintroduced, and we are given a reminder of God’s coming kingdom. Through Christ, Peter performs two miracles that may seem familiar to us because they are similar to a couple of miracles Jesus performed. They will remind us that Christ brings hope, comfort, and victory!
To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and to meditate upon Acts 9:32-43, Mark 2:1-12, 2 Kings 4:33-35, Luke 8:49-56, John 11:25, Romans 12:15, Galatians 6:2, and Revelation 7:9.
As we gather to worship our gracious God this Lord’s Day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder", the Acclamation of Praise “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us”, and the Hymn of Response “All Glory Be to Christ” Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
