Have you ever struggled to be free of a besetting sin? Something that you desired to leave behind but for some reason could not stop yourself from doing? We all struggle in this way. Yet as Christians our response is not the same as the world’s response. To be free from the power of sin we do not look to the law but rather to the power of the gospel. This week we will continue our study of Colossians focusing on Colossians 2:11-12. To come prepared for the sermon take time to read and to meditate upon Colossians 2:6-15, Deuteronomy 30:6, Ezekiel 36:25-27, Romans 7:7-12, and Westminster Confession of Faith 9.3-5.
As we gather to worship our loving Father this Lord’s day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Blessing and Honor and Glory and Power”, the Acclamation of Praise “Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven”, and the Hymn of Response “Jesus, I Am Resting, Resting”. Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
If you’re going to be out of town this Sunday, let me encourage you to listen to the at http://www.rivermont.org/sermon (usually posted by Monday afternoon) or you can download the REPC podcast, which will be delivered to your mobile device.
