Preparing for the Lord's Day
Whenever my wife and I plan a family trip to Georgia, there are many things to prepare: washing clothes to pack, gathering toys for Ellie to enjoy, planning out how to entertain Ellie for a 9-12 hour drive, restocking pull-ups, as well as making sure our dog Beau has all he needs. The expectation of this great trip requires all of this preparation.
This Lord's Day we will continue our series through the book of Ezra as we focus on rebuilding. We will look at Ezra 8 and see how Ezra's expectation of God's hand at work motivates his preparation for all the details of his journey. We will see the importance of deploying great leaders, depending on our great God, and devoting great resources all for the fulfillment of God's mission. To prepare for worship, you can read Ezra 8, Matthew 5:16-18, Matthew 9:35-38, and 1 Chronicles 29:10-19.
As we gather to worship our gracious Lord we will sing hymn #101 Come Thou Almighty King, Acclamation of Praise My Hope is Built on Nothing Less, and closing hymn #30 Our God, Our Help in Ages Past. As we worship the living God, expect to behold His glory and become like Him. As we leave the worship service, may we not only expect great things from God but also attempt great things for God!
