Preparing for the Lord's Day
We continue our sermon series this Lord's Day on Rivermont's Mission, Vision, and Values, by wrapping up the last part of our mission, which addresses the where of our mission. God has located us in a particular place from which gospel renewal flows. Last week we saw that the place gospel renewal must flow first is into the church, Rivermont Church to be more precise. And as we experience that gospel renewal, it will necessarily and joyfully cause us to carry that gospel renewal into our neighborhood and our world. What we will see from our text, which is Acts 1:6-8 narrowly and Acts 1 and 2 broadly, we do this as the church gathered, the church scattered and the church tethered. To prepare your hearts for the sermon, take some time this week to read and meditate on Acts 1-2.
As we gather to worship our mission-giving, mission sending God, we will join our voices in song, as we sing the Hymn of Praise “May The Peoples Praise You” the Acclamation of Praise “Christ our Only Hope in Life and Death,” and the Hymn of Preparation and Response “How Sweet and Awesome is The Place.” Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
