Preparing For The Lord's Day

Preparing for the Lord's Day

The Order of Salvation: Election, Predestination, Effectual Calling, Regeneration, Conversion, Justification, Adoption, Sanctification, Perseverance, Glorification

This Sunday we continue our sermon series on the ordo salutis (order of salvation). As we saw last week, God must change our hearts if we are to come alive to the things of God; this happens through regeneration. As our hearts are regenerated, we rightly respond to the message and hope of the gospel through faith and repentance, which is the heart of conversion. This Sunday we will look at the need, the nature, and the fruit of conversion through the conversion of Zacchaeus in Luke 19:1-10. To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and to meditate upon Mark 1:15, Acts 16:24-34; 20:17-21 and Westminster Confession of Faith 14.2.

As we gather to worship our Triune God this Lord’s day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “My Hope Is in the Lord,” the Acclamation of Praise “Jesus! What a Friend of Sinners!,” the Communion Hymn “Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me,” and the Hymn of Response “May the Peoples Praise You.”  We will also partake of the Lord’s Supper as we look to Christ in faith, asking Him to nourish our souls and strengthen our faith through this sacrament. Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
