Preparing for the Lord's Day
Better
As we come to the end of Hebrews Chapter 1, we continue to see Christ exalted above all else. He is “better” than anyone or anything, including the angels. This means that Christ is worthy of all worship, praise, and honor, as well as our complete surrender and absolute devotion. Sometimes, we miss the exalted Christ in our attempts to find satisfaction and acceptance apart from Him. At times, our worthy endeavors become pursuits to please self. Levels of frustration occur when we fail to exalt Christ. The writer of Hebrews presses us to embrace a high view of Christ, Who is secure upon His throne, full of grace, power, truth, and love.
As we come to Hebrews 1:10-14 this Sunday, we’ll see the majesty of our God and Savior as He reigns over all creation. As we yield ourselves to Him, we find our true freedom and deepest joy. We also position ourselves rightly before the One Who is our eternal Creator, unchanging Master, and Conquering King. To come prepared for worship, please remain in prayer for God to open the eyes of our hearts and minds. With a focus on Hebrews 1:10-14, please meditate on Hebrews and ponder on our exalted God and Savior. As Hebrews 1:10-14 includes quotations from Psalm 102:25-27 and Psalm 110:1, please read over Psalm 102 and Psalm 110 in their entirety.
As we gather to worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit this Lord’s Day, we will join our hearts and voices in singing the Hymn of Praise “All Praise to God, Who Reigns Above,” the Acclamation of Praise “Crown Him with Many Crowns,” and the Hymn of Response “Rejoice, the Lord is King.” Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
