Preparing For The Lord's Day

Preparing for the Lord's Day

Last week, as we began our series on Joel, we were reminded of living out the gospel soundtrack of awakening, lamenting, and repenting. Joel continues to call God’s people to repentance in chapter 2, but with an added element. He speaks of God’s judgment and the Day of the Lord. This should serve as an alarm and warning to rouse people to return to the Lord and seek Him while He may be found. We also take refuge in the fact that we can return because the Lord is gracious, merciful, and his steadfast love endures forever.

To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and to meditate upon Joel 2:1-17, Revelation 9:1-6, Matthew 27:45-54, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Mark 13:24-27, and Luke 17:26-28

As we gather to worship our gracious God this Lord’s Day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty ”, the Acclamation of Praise “Before the Throne of God”, and the Hymn of Response “May the Mind of Christ My Savior” Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
