Preparing For The Lord's Day

Preparing for the Lord’s Day

At this point in the Israelites journey to the Promised Land, it may be easy to think that God should give up on Israel. From the outset, the complaining, rebellion, and doubt have been a constant theme.  In our passage for this week, the Israelites face a devious enemy that wants to bring a curse upon them and defeat them. Enemies that want to bring an end to Israel and the people of God is nothing new throughout all of history. A divided prophet is called upon to help the enemy, but God has a different plan. Despite the plans of the enemy and the continual sin of Israel, we will see that the Lord is determined to bless His people, and there is nothing that the enemies of Israel can to do to thwart God’s plan for His people. To come prepared for the sermon take time this week to read and to meditate upon Numbers 22:1-21, Genesis 3:15 and 12:1-3, John 8:44, and Revelation 12:9-11

As we gather to worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit this Lord’s day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “O Worship The King”, the Acclamation of Praise “Crown Him with Many Crowns ” and the Hymn of Response “The Church’s One Foundation”,  let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
