Preparing For The Lord's Day

Preparing for the Lord's Day

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21).

Good Afternoon, Rivermont Family!

As we celebrate Jesus Christ together this Lord’s Day, we’ll turn to the great praise of Ephesians 3:20-21 in the sermon entitled “To Him Who is Able.” As you and I face the joys and trials of life, we’ll rest in the love and power of Christ. We’ll find encouragement to trust and to serve Him day by day. Yes, we’ll be exploring some of the life lessons learned from the first Sabbatical rest of one of your pastors!

As we worship Christ the Lord, our Call to Worship from John 1:1-5, 14 will remind us that Jesus is God Incarnate…the Word made flesh to dwell among us. Our opening hymn, “Angels We Have Heard on High,” is a celebration of the incarnation of God with glory to the new-born King. After confessing our sin and hearing God’s assurance of forgiveness for those who repent, we’ll respond in praise by singing “Good Christian Men, Rejoice.” Following the blessings of the Spirit through God’s word and pastoral prayer, our final hymn of response will be “All Praise to Thee, Eternal Lord.”

In preparation of worship, please remain in prayer and look over Ephesians 3:14-21 to anchor our doxology in the context of prayer. Pray through John 1:1-14 and Colossians 1:15-20 and embrace our foundation in Christ. If you’re going to be out of town this Sunday, let me encourage you to listen to the sermon online (usually posted by Monday afternoon) or you can download the REPC podcast which will be delivered to your mobile device.

We look forward to worshipping with you this coming Lord’s Day and from all of the pastors, “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”

May our affections for Christ be stirred anew this Lord’s Day!

Pastor Ron, together with Pastors David, Brett, Mike, and Shane
