Preparing For The Lord's Day

Preparing for the Lord's Day

Another Christmas has come and gone, for some expectations were met and for others, it was perhaps another year of disappointment. Whatever your feelings, one thing is true for all of us, we have entered the space between Christmas and the New Year and the space between winter and spring. It can be a hard and difficult week and season of life for us. We are not sure what to do because all the parties have been attended, all the presents have been opened, and all out-of-town family members have left or will be leaving soon. With winter upon us, the days are short and cold, so we wait trying to navigate the space between. This is a picture of our lives, we live in the space between the 1st and 2nd coming of Christ. Maybe we are not sure how to live or what to do as the people of God. Our sermon text will be Titus 2:11-14 and Paul gives us some direction on how we should live as we wait for the 2nd coming of Christ. Also, to come prepared to receive God’s Word take time this week to read and to meditate upon Luke 2:1-20, John 1:14, Colossians 3:1-17, Romans 5:6-10, and Revelation 1:4-7.

As we gather this first Sunday after Christmas Day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Angels We Have Heard On High”, the Acclamation of Praise “Good Christian Men, Rejoice”, and the Hymn of Response “Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me.” Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him.
