Preparing For The Lord's Day

Preparing For The Lord's Day

The church in Colossae had come under the influence of false teaching and the people were in danger of being deceived. The heart of the false teaching relates to the relationship between the law and good works in the life of Christians. Do Christians need Christ plus the law to walk in obedience and holiness? If not, how are Christians to mature and grow in their faith? This week, we will return to our study of Colossians and address these questions. To come prepared for the sermon take time to read Colossians 2:6-15, Isaiah 29:13-14 and Westminster Confession of Faith 16.2,3.

As we gather to worship our Triune God this Lord’s day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise”, the Acclamation of Praise “And Can It Be That I Should Gain”, and the Hymn of Response “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah”.  Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!

If you’re going to be out of town this Sunday, let me encourage you to listen to the sermon online (usually posted by Monday afternoon) or you can download the REPC podcast, which will be delivered to your mobile device.
