Preparing For The Lord's Day

preparing

Amos

We all remember the sayings or phrases our parents, teachers, or coaches would continually repeat because they wanted us to know, learn from,  or respond to whatever they were telling us. As we approach the end of Amos, the Lord continues to warn His people and tell them of coming judgment. At this point, you figure that Israel would realize this must be important and repent of their sins and turn to the Lord. Yet they continue in their sin, and they learn the Lord’s patience has limits, always having His Word is not guaranteed, and God sees and knows all things; no one can hide.

To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and to meditate upon Amos 7:1-9, Amos 8, Amos 9:1-10,  Psalm 18:30, Psalm 119:142, Deuteronomy 8:3, Deuteronomy 28:48, Psalm 139:7-10, and Psalm 11:4.

As we gather to worship our gracious God this Lord’s Day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise”, the Acclamation of Praise “'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus”, and the Hymn of Response “He Will Hold Me Fast”. Also, in the 11:00 am service, we get to witness the baptism of Lanier Piper Terrell. Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him.
