Preparing for the Lord's Day
We are saved by God’s grace, now what? As we continue to learn about the God of grace, we will answer that question this week. Sin still lingers in our hearts and our default is to maintain our salvation by good works, but that is nothing more than slavery. Christ came to set us free, so what does that freedom look like? Freedom is not returning to the law and trying to add to the perfect work of Christ, instead, our freedom should be expressed by faith and work itself out in love. By God’s grace, this is possible and we can live and enjoy the freedom purchased for us on the cross by Jesus.
To come prepared for the sermon, take time this week to read and to meditate upon Galatians 5:1-6, Colossians 2:13-14, Matthew 5:17 and 11:28-30, Romans 3:20 and 4:18-25, and Hebrews 11.
As we gather to worship our gracious God this Lord’s Day, we will join our hearts in song, singing the Hymn of Praise “Jesus, Lover of My Soul”, the Acclamation of Praise “Amazing Grace”, and the Hymn of Response “How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds” Let us come to worship this Sunday prepared to hear God’s Word, to receive it in faith, to love and treasure it in our hearts, and to practice it in our lives that we may continue to glorify and enjoy Him!
