Committee focuses on world-wide missions activities being carried out by members
of Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church
Below you will find a list of the various missionaries and ministries supported
by this committee. Click on a name to see a brief description of the mission
work they are carrying out.

Ray and Kay
Baker |
|
|
-
The Bakers serve in Stockholm,
Sweden.
Ray teaches apologetics, ethics, Bible and philosophy at the Bible
Institute, Credo Akademin. He also conducts seminars and
conferences.
-
The goal of Credo Akademin is to
train Christians in Europe to present the gospel more effectively to
their contemporaries in post-Christian Europe.
-
Kay is involved
in ministry to the educational needs of missionary families through
the organization SHARE.

Bill and Mary
Bell |
|
|
-
Bill and Mary Bell founded
Within the Walls prison ministry to U.K. inmates. Bill’s experience
as a world-class professional soccer player and coach gives him a
natural platform from which to share the Gospel.

God has used Bill and Mary’s
“Mum and Dad” approach to evangelism and discipleship to reach both
youth and adults, men and women, within the walls of the British
prison system.

Vernon and
Patty Brewer |

Vernon founded World Help in
1991. Today, this organization serves in over fifty countries
through ministries that include church planting, Bible distribution,
child sponsorship, leadership training, and humanitarian aid.

The mission of World Help is “to
fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment through
partnering, training, helping and serving, especially in the
unreached areas of the world.”

Rivermont partners with Vernon
and World Help to carry out projects in several different countries.

Russ and Sue Carr |

Russ and Sue Carr, members of
Rivermont, are the founders of Sports Outreach Institute.
-
SOI is a non-denominational
Christian ministry that uses sports as a vehicle to bring Christ to
children and adults in several east African countries, Mexico, and
in U.S. inner cities.
-
Ministries range from
large-scale evangelism crusades (such as “Soccer Crusades” in
stadiums) to one-on-one strategies to conducting sports clinics and
programs in various venues.

Dorcas Harbin |
|
|

Dorcas serves at One Another
Ministries’ missionary care facility in Montpellier, France.
-
Missionaries ministering in
Europe and North Africa come to this ministry center to receive
encouragement, counseling, therapy, or intensive care.
-
Dorcas is also involved in a
church planting effort in Montpellier that includes both a French
and an international congregation. Dorcas is helping to develop a
women’s ministry at this church.

Myanmar
Projects |
|
|

In partnership with World Help,
Rivermont sponsors several projects aimed at strengthening and
expanding the Kingdom of God in Myanmar (also known as Burma).
-
Our national partners in Myanmar
operate a drug rehabilitation program with an eighty percent cure
rate, conduct a Bible School to train pastors, operate and orphanage
and leper colony, and share the good news about Jesus Christ
throughout the land.
-
Rivermont has also sponsored the
construction of several ministry centers in Myanmar.

Dennis & Linda
Ryan |

Working with Campus Crusade for
Christ, and based out of Paris, France, Dennis and Linda are part of
a team dedicated to reaching people in North Africa, Southwest Asia and the Middle
East.
-
People in this region are among the hardest
groups to reach with the gospel, and many challenges, and
dangers confront those God has led to be witnesses to this very
needy group.

Rodney and
Janice Suddith |

After serving at Rivermont as
Director of Christian Education for 18 years, Rodney accepted a call
to become Executive Director of Sports Outreach Institute in January
2005.
-
Sports Outreach runs sports
programs in orphanages, schools, prisons, facilities for the
physically handicapped, and churches in Africa, Latin America, and
the United States.
-
Sports Outreach ministers in
other ways as well. For example, The Street Children’s Project is a
model being developed to provide food, vocational training,
community service, and spiritual guidance to street children.

Paul and
Reinhild Sydnor |
|
|

Paul and Reinhild are serving
with International Teams in Innsbruck, Austria, where they minister
on the “refugee highway.”
-
The Sydnors describe their
ministry to diverse peoples that have
found temporary refuge in Austria as “missions on the doorstep.”
Paul and Reinhild have many opportunities to minister in Austrian
churches.
-
Paul grew up in Lynchburg, and
served for a while as Assistant Pastor here at Rivermont.

Nepal Projects |
|

Rivermont, in partnership with
World Help and New Directions International, sponsors several
projects aimed at strengthening and expanding the kingdom of God in
Nepal/
-
The nature of these projects
ranges from humanitarian aid to pastor training to church planting
and construction of ministry centers.

Eric and June
Vess |
|

Eric Vess serves on the World
Help staff in the areas of Partnership Communications and Video
Vision Media.
-
Eric both documents and
facilitates the diversity of partnerships and projects undertaken by
World Help through its numerous international ministry partners.
-
Eric travels regularly with
Vernon Brewer and other World Help staff to develop, maintain and
document the diversity of World Help partnerships throughout the
world.
